Responding to Systemic Violence

Reduce Single-Use Disposables

Historically, marginalized and low-income communities live closer to landfills, contributing to a multitude of health problems. To reduce the landfill space needed for my lifestyle, I will not use single-use items this week (i.e. plastic straws, plastic cutlery, plastic water bottles, disposable coffee cups, and plastic bags).

Read a review of a new book by Heather McGhee, called The Sum of Us. It's about the many ways racism has defeated efforts to create a more economically just America. As long as we have a system of racism in this Country we will have economic inequalities. The book sounds good. I am going to buy it!
