This sounds small.  But I had to drop off some packages at the package store.  There was a disabled lady trying to get out of her car.  She had all kinds of gadgets and gizmos set up so she would not need to ask for help, but had dropped or one of the bands had gone out of place.  In an effort to be respectful I asked if I could help.  She seemed so shocked and accepted.  I was thankful she to help and realized how much less we may be helping each other during this time.  I made sure she was able to get in her chair and did not need / want anything additional before bidding her farewell.

Thank you Celia.  I remember this day like it was yesterday.

What I really liked best here is how you asked if this person needed help - sometimes our well intentioned actions are not wanted and able-bodied people should be considerate of the feelings of the disabled. The DAN network here in our Employee Engagement Networks in the organization helps me learn more every day. Thank you for your kind actions.

We had a new neighbor move in during the pandemic.  Left them a card in hopes of meeting them soon.  I have to walk past their house each day I go out for a walk.

Trying to be intentional and consistent in my mediation efforts.  Also took advantage of the Emotional Wellness and Resiliency Training - Thriving Performance training.

Wow!  The city I live in, reports in the newspaper this week , that they are moving to a clean energy company for electricity starting in April!  The article seems to be in alignment of Ecochallenge, almost as if they are connected--maybe they are!

Hello everyone, I was the person who said they were not aware of environmental racism in their community. I therefore did a little bit of research and found that in London black communities are more likely to be exposed to air pollution (2016 study). Interestingly, higher air pollution could be one distributing factor to worse Covid-outcomes and the outcomes for BAME people in the UK is indeed worse.

Thank you for sharing this data point.  I have found there is some commonality across the world for under served communities.   Thank you so much for sharing and the courage to learn more.

Great!  The City got back to me with an address I can go to for their sustainability plans.  I'm now in, but am trying to figure out my role in all this -- observer, investigator, think tank, or do I connect with them overall just to step in the door, for now, and see what happens.  I always like to be prepared, though, so I'm still thinking the next step over.

I believe it is going well.  It is driving additional discussion for my family and my community.

I contacted the City yesterday to see what they are doing with sustainability, but no response.  I think a formal presentation to the City at the City Hall meeting would be required.  For now, all I see is increased homeowner bills to pay for the infrastructure improvements necessary in sewer/water.  They are trying to help the homeless and developing what they can, exploring alternatives.  I watched the news (which causes anxiety, but I did it).  I'm ready for today's session :).  Previously I've studied why people are mean, so I'm familiar with some of the psychology of talking, but look forward to knowing more.  I checked in with friends online about their thoughts of sustainability, but they waved me off (I think too much stress for them to handle during a pandemic and everything else).
